School of Computer Science & Information Technology

School of CS & IT was started in the year 2002 with a handful of students aspiring MCA under Kannur University. The department aims at Global Excellence and Local Relevance in higher education that tracks changes in IT education sector around the world. The institute has pursued assertively a set of academic strategies designed to extend the reach of information technology and computer science offerings geographically. The department always keep in pace with the emerging trends in information technology marketplace thereby to make sure the students are competitive, employable and job ready. School of CS&IT has the intellectual capital with highly qualified faculty members serving technology-based education delivery systems. Most of the faculty members are pursuing research to be competitive enough as the area of research and development is rapidly expanding in the IT sector. Students are given hands-on experience to explore the computing disciplines both in hardware and software to more successfully prepare themselves for promising career.

Our students consistently secure University ranks in MCA Examinations conducted by Kannur University. We secured University rank consistently from 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010. Students are placed in various IT giants like Infosys, TCS, Wipro Technologies, Hewlett-Packard, Sapient, Manhattan Associates, IBM, SBI, Mphasis, Accenture, US Technology, I-Flex Solutions, Perot Systems, ACS, Merill Lynch, Singapore, Subex Azure Limited, Microland, MindTree Ltd, Thinkcore Technologies, Ubix Systems Marketing Pvt, IBS Software Services Pvt, Nest Trivandrum. The Department was started with excellent computer infrastructure. We were the first to set up a 64 bit processor based computing Lab in Kerala. The Computer Lab is setup in 1:1 student-computer ratio with 120 machines, 60 systems based on the latest AMD Athlon 64 bit processors and 60 systems with Intel Pentium 4 processor based (2.4 GHz, 0.13 micron fabrication technology). One lab is exclusively setup for research and experiments purpose. Today the Department has a vibrant student body numbering around 150. In continuing commitment towards social responsibility and contribute to educational development of the workforce as well as the local community and society, School of Computer Science & Information Technology regularly conducts internal and external workshops regularly.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications- 2 Year )

Eligibility For Admission( MCA - 2 Year ):

Passed BCA/ Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree.
OR
Passed B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level
Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination.

No of Seats : 60 for 2 year MCA
